Obituary of Elisabeth Sattlegger

Elisabeth Sattlegger (nee Gerencser) of Calgary passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at the age of 82 years. Elisabeth, who preferred to be called “Lizzy” or “Erzsebet”, was born on January 19, 1924 in Szombathely, Hungary and immigrated to Austria prior to arriving in Ottawa, Canada in 1950. She was educated in mathematics and worked for Statistics Canada for over twenty-seven years. Elisabeth was fluent in Hungarian, German and English. She retired in 1984. She enjoyed listening to music, reading, looking at photographs, cooking, and providing for others. Elisabeth loved travelling as well and made many trips between Ottawa, Calgary, New Jersey and Europe. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law William (Willie) and Lyne Sattlegger, her dear friend Charles Pater and good friends and neighbours for many years Dorothy and Howard Palumbo of Ottawa. She is also survived by her sister Eva Juhasz and her husband Miklos (Mike) in Brick, NJ as well as her niece Edith and nephew Peter and other extended family in New Jersey. Her sister-in-law Hildegard Sattlegger and immediate family reside in the original family home and area of Spittal a/d Drau, located in the Province of Carinthia, Austria. Elisabeth was predeceased by her husband of 38 years Hans Johann (Hansi) in July 1988.
