Eileen Frances Rose

Obituary of Eileen Mabel Frances Rose

Eileen Rose, died peacefully at the Sarcee Hospice in Calgary, Alberta, on November 29, 2006 at the age of 87 years. Eileen was born and bred in Montreal, an exceptionally devoted wife and mother, and a dedicated member of the congregation of Saint Paul’s Anglican Church in Lachine, the suburb where she spent all but a few years of her life. In her later years, Eileen moved with her husband to Calgary to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter. She will be sorely missed, not just among her immediate family but by her many friends, particularly those in Lachine. Eileen’s life was marked forever by the untimely death of her own mother, Susan Delaney, from complications related to childbirth, but Eileen was blessed by having an extraordinary stepmother, Agnes Green, who loved and looked after her and two other of Susan Delaney’s children as if they were her own. Eileen thereby learned the lessons of love, and as a result her own children and granddaughter were blessed with her intense caring and her unconditional positive regard. Eileen is survived by her husband Maurice; her daughter Carol, of Calgary; her son Michael, of Sydney, Australia; and her beloved granddaughter Julia Skelly, of Montreal. A small Memorial Service will he held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church (1121 – 14th Avenue S.W.) on Friday December 8, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. Eileen’s remains will be buried in April in the old Dorval churchyard where her birth mother has lain since 1919. Family and friends in Montreal would be warmly welcomed at that time to help bid her farewell. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
