Obituary of Phyllis McDonald

Phyllis McDonald (nee Neame) of Calgary, beloved wife of the late Albert McDonald, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2006, at the age of 87 years. Born in the County of Buckingham, England, Phyllis arrived in Canada as a baby. She trained as a nurse at the Calgary General Hospital, graduating in 1940. She played an active role in the Alumni. Phyllis met her husband Ab (Albert) in Grand Trunk, and spent many wonderful years in Calgary raising their three children, Arlene Mackintosh of Calgary, Joan Gusa (Chuck) of Springbank, and Michael McDonald (Barbara) of High River, AB. Ab predeceased her in 2002. Together, Phyl and Ab were involved the hotel business (Westgate, Stampeder), ranching, and racing thoroughbred horses. As well, they were active members of the Calgary Winter Club, and avid golfers. Phyllis enjoyed her trips to Phoenix, Palm Springs, Maui, and her condo in Radium, B.C. She was an avid photographer, golfer, and swimmer (CWC). Phyl (Grandma) was passionate about the accomplishments and strengths of her wonderful grandchildren and their partners, Jody, Lara, Matt (Laurie), Susan, Cheryl (Daryl), Jason, Chris, Alana (Dan) and Jamie; her great grandchildren, Willow, Mason, Erik and Genevieve. As well, Phyl will be missed by her beloved Neame siblings; her two sisters, Edna Martin, Joan (Ethan) Compton, and by her two brothers, Norm Neame of Calgary, and Hugh Neame of Toronto, ON. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, December 1, 2006. Funeral Services will be held at St. Barnabus Anglican Church on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jagdutt Singh, Presider.
