Obituary of Jean Gladys Halford

Jean Halford of Calgary passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2006 at the age of 93 years. Jean was born on July 5, 1913 in Glasgow, Scotland. As a young girl she immigrated to Canada with her family. Settling in Edmonton, where she completed her education and later married Ted Halford, together they moved to Calgary. Jean was very active in her community. She was a Chartered and Life member of IODE Dr. George W. Kirby Chapter since 1947, where she held many offices. She was the past president of the Gyrette Stampede Club, a longtime member of the Calgary Golf and Country Club, the Glencoe Club, Grace Presbyterian Church, as well as the Dorcas Group. Jean volunteered many years with Meals on Wheels. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sue Wright; her nieces, Marguerite Ritchie of Edmonton, and Eileen (Don) Walchuk of Kelowna; her nephew Alan McLean of Edmonton; as well as their families. She was predeceased by her husband Ted Halford in 1972. The family extends its sincere gratitude to the staff at Wentworth Court for their excellent care and friendship shown to Jean and Sue.
