Obituary of Andrew William Agnew

Andrew William Agnew III, “Andy” to many, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 13, 2006, doing what he loved – playing hockey. Andrew was born on Easter Sunday, April 14, 1968 in Oakville, ON. He lived in Burlington, ON until the age of fourteen when he moved to Calgary with his family. He attended Woodman Jr. High and Henry Wisewood High School, graduating in 1986, at which time he began his university courses at the U of C. Andrew received his Business Management degree at the University of Lethbridge in 1992. He was well prepared for a career in banking, as he had an aptitude for numbers. Early on, as an employee at the Bank of Montreal, he quickly became the evening branch manager. More recently, he worked in the Business Solutions Centre at First Calgary. Andrew was always very athletic. He was on the ice by age two. It was hard to separate his social life from his sports activities. Hockey, soccer, tennis, endless rounds of golf, camping with his beloved dog Sasha and even a softball game with his sister’s co-ed team are a few of his hobbies that kept him busy when off the ice. Andrew’s social calendar was always filled well in advance as spending time with friends and family was extremely important to him. He always wanted to do the right thing to help others. He was known to pick up stray dogs and get them to a new home. He was a dedicated volunteer for charities, such as the United Way, over the years. Andrew kindly donated his organs to help others in need. He seemed to find a perfect balance in his life, between a successful career, being active and being social. Andrew was an incredibly compassionate, caring, and kind-hearted man. He was happy. He will be missed and loved always. Andrew will be missed greatly by his parents, Gail and Drew; his partner Deb Bogoros; his sister and brother-in-law Sarah and Darren Gray; his special aunt Barb; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
