Obituary of Lloyd William Smith

Lloyd William Smith, beloved husband of Alfreda Smith, of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at the age of 84 years. Lloyd was born on February 16, 1922 in Fork Lake, AB. He proudly served his country during WWII with the 13th Canadian Field Regiment, R.C.A, landing in Normandy. He married Alfreda on June 30, 1948. They resided in Calgary where Lloyd was employed by Canada Post for many years. He loved to golf and fish and was generally a very sports minded person. Lloyd was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was very proud of his family and all their accomplishments. Besides Alfreda, his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Lloyd is survived by one son Allan and two daughters and one son-in-law, Aileen Palmquist and Sandi and Dan Cole; grandchildren, Melanie (Ken) Jones and Christopher and Bradley Cole. He is also survived by his sister Ivy (Howard) Haughian of Grand Prairie, AB as well as several nieces and nephews Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
