Obituary of Evelyn Louise Chase

Evelyn Louise Chase joined the love of her life, Norman Aylward, in the arms of their Lord on Friday, November 10, 2006, at the age of 77 years. Evelyn was the spark and fire of our family being the cohesive catalyst that made our house a home. As a family, we were blessed by her strong faith, constant love, patience and devotion. Ev ensured she maintained a balanced and full life, giving of her time and energy to numerous charities including the Catholic Women’s League, Meals on Wheels, Community Service, as well as numerous ministries in her church. Ev’s warm welcoming eyes and smile gave comfort and joy to everyone she touched; she was an awesome wife, mother, sister, friend and an example to all. Born on October 14, 1929, to Victoria Mary and Joseph Dolphis Rivard in Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, she was the second oldest of fourteen children. Ev and Norm’s fifty-six year marriage is an inspiration to all, especially their children, James (1951-1999), Jacqueline (Richard) Knight, Keith Chase, Kurt (Susan) Chase, Rene (Douglas) Higgin and RaeAnn (Scott) Althen; two daughters-in-law Mary-Anne and Claudia Chase; and sixteen grandchildren and their spouses. Left to cherish Ev’s memory are her sisters, Albertina Lehn, Victoria (Ken) Gair, Eva (Eddie) Winder; and brothers, Louis Rivard, James Rivard, Eric Rivard, Jean (Betty) Rivard, Glen (Bev) Rivard; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who will forever miss her. “Mom you were more than just a mother, you were our mentor, our heroine and our best friend. You and dad will always be the stars in our sky”. Those wishing to join us in celebrating her life and legacy are invited to prayers on Thursday, November 16, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated on Friday, November 17, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (4718 Worcester Drive S.W.).
