Obituary of Jim Barclay

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the very sudden passing of Jim Barclay (James Douglas Alexander), on Thursday November 9, 2006, at the age of 52 years. Jim had worked as a journeyman autobody technician through most of his career. He was an extremely hard worker and could turn a wreck into pristine shape. He was a perfectionist at his trade and his product was unsurpassed. Not only did he restore and paint vehicles, he also worked with oil field equipment and aircraft. Jim will be remembered by the many friends he worked with throughout the years with the City of Calgary, Northside Autobody, Crowfoot Image, Shaganappi Chev Olds, Crown Industries, Avmax Group and recently, Enerflow. He loved playing hockey and riding his motorcycle. Jim played goal for years with the “Sods”, the Beiseker Team and over the last number of years with the guys at the South Fish Creek Arena. Jim’s proudest achievement was winning three championships in six years with the City of Calgary. There were many times he drove in snowstorms to get to the rink to “lace-up” because the “guys need me.” Jim and Cheryl loved to travel, they were usually on the road going somewhere (in the off season), especially places such as Kimberley, Seattle and California. Jim also loved to camp and will be terribly missed by his little four legged buddy Casey, whom he so lovingly brought back to life. In Jim’s short life he touched so many lives with his warmth, gentleness, smiling eyes and the love he gave so unconditionally. His open arms and incredible hugs will be missed so. Jim had friends that were anywhere from the age of seven to eighty. He will also be dearly missed by his extended family from Winnipeg and Kelowna. Jim leaves to mourn, his absolute best friend Cheryl; his beautiful daughters Tamara Cannon (Tobin), Tina Barclay (Codie) Anderson and Kaylin McCullough; as well as his two very precious grandchildren Tiara Barclay and Sidney Anderson. Jim also leaves his mom and dad Audrey and Roy Judd; and his sister Heather Carlson (George). He will be lovingly remembered by his two “sons” Tobin Cannon and Troy Collins who he shared so much with and whom he was so very proud of; as well as his long time buddy Cody Cote. Jim would like everyone to “laugh every day”. Cheryl and family would appreciate it if you could attend Jim’s service in jeans and they hope that the hockey guys wear their jerseys in his honor.
