Obituary of Irene Ellen Hunter

On Friday, November 10, 2006 we said goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Irene Hunter. She was 92 years old. Irene had many friends and acquaintances who were important to her. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved them well. Irene was predeceased by her husband Gordon Hunter in 1995 and will be greatly missed by her daughters, Barbara Grisdale (Lorne Inglis) and Judy Olson (Dennis); her grandchildren, Robin Reboul (Shennen), Darin Grisdale, Noel Grisdale (Karla), Jenny Olson (Paul Davies) and Keith Olson (Cheryl); and her great-grandchildren, Samantha and Hunter Reboul, Julia, Ty, Rebecca and Olivia Grisdale, Noah Davies, Cooper and Katie Olson. Irene was born on September 8, 1914 and was raised in Manitoba where she met and married Gordon. As a bank family they lived in the three Prairie provinces, retiring in Calgary in 1968. She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church for thirty-eight years. Irene enjoyed her move to Lake Bonavista Retirement Residence in July 2004. She actively took part in activities at the lodge and enjoyed making many new friends late in her life. After a brief illness, Irene died with great dignity at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary. Her family are appreciative of the gentle and respectful care Irene received from the physicians and nursing staff of Unit 56 at the Rockyview.
