Obituary of Henry Havinga

Our dearest father and Opa passed away quietly, painlessly and gratefully in to heaven on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at the age of 94 years. Henry was born in Groningen, Holland. He served as a mechanic in the Dutch Army during WWII and was discharged as a corporal in 1946. In 1955 Henry took his family and immigrated to Canada. He became a well known dairy man with cattle being his passion. Henry gave a wonderful, happy life to his loving wife Harmke who predeceased him in November, 2003 as did his daughter Gea in 1943. Henry is survived by his five children, Rienie (Roelof), Emmy (Pete), Henk (Fran), Klaas and Lukina (Glen); eight grandchildren, Martin, Gea, Gordon, Lynn, Marlene, Lorraine, Bridget and Shawn; twenty-two great-grandchildren were all precious to him. A Celebration of Henry’s Good Life will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethany Care Centre,(1736 – 1st Ave. N.W) Airdrie, AB.
