Obituary of Cecil Grad

Cecil Peter Grad of Airdrie passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at the age of 93 years. Cecil was born February 13, 1913, the youngest child born to parents Adam and Helena Grad of St. Joseph’s Colony, Saskatchewan. He attended Campion College in Regina, Queen’s University in Toronto, and the University of Calgary. With his wife Delmar (nee Gibson), he owned and operated the Gradell Motel in Calgary for twenty-one years. He also taught junior high school for ten years with the Separate School Division. Cecil is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Stanwill and Jane of Airdrie; his daughter Celeste and her partner Bonita Price of Parksville, BC; one granddaughter, Kara and her husband Shawn Hansen and their four children, Wyatt, Sage, Riley and Austen; one step-granddaughter, Samantha Addeman and her partner Justin Wharton. He was predeceased by his wife Delmar in 1994, granddaughter Kristine in 1990 and four sisters and a brother. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church (2424 – 24th Avenue N.W.) on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow in St. Joseph’s Section at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
