Condolences
Dear Jeannette,
My sympathies to you and your family is the loss of Jack. What a dear, godly man he was. I have one very special memory with Jack that I wanted to share with you. In the early 2000s in KTM I often took walks in the morning. One such morning I met Jack on the road and he walked with me up to Kirtipur where he showed me all the history of where SIL folks used to live. In subsequent years whenever I was in Kirtipur I would remember that time up there with Jack and all the people that had gone before in “tilling the fields.” I’m praying for God’s comfort as you adjust to life without Jack. Love, Holly

May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you. When someone you love becomes a memory the memory becomes a treasure.
Our sympathies to Jeanette and family. May you experience God’s comfort and hope throughout the coming days. Jack is now breathing celestial air with no restriction!
Dear Jeanette and family,
I was saddened to learn of the passing of Jack. He and his brothers were childhood friends of myself and my brother, Donald. Jack’s parents were also friends of my parents, Gerald and Janet Vander Velde. I have fond memories of growing up in the Dalemead community. One such memory is that of a Talent Show in the Dalemead Hall. It was “command” performance (my dad commanded it) in which the Newton boys, my brother, my dad and myself would play a couple of tunes between the tap dancers and poetry readers. As I recall, Jack was the violin player. Good times.
My condolences to you and your extended family, Jeanette. Although we did not see each other often later in life, my memories of Jack were especially of the times we shared on our respective farms as children. Jack and his brothers were our major cousin contacts. Jack and I came to have mutual friends later in life as we became brothers in spiritual life and responsibilities. May God lift you up in this time of sorry and remind you that your love of Jack is still alive though he is no longer in your sight.
I was so sorry to hear about Jack’s passing although I know he is “home”. I will always have fond memories of working with him at Wycliffe. I always thought of him as a second father. I always think of you whenever I hear or read something about Nepal. I recently read the autobiography of Elcho & Millie Redding who were missionaries in Northern India with Tibetan refugees. They made several trips into Nepal. They were with TEAM but mentioned WBT several times so I wondered if you would have met them. You will be in my prayers.
We are grieved to hear of Jack’s passing, realizing the fruitful life he has lived for God’s glory. We will always remember Jack as cheerful, kind, and helpful, and we have always been amazed at his many talents, which he put to very good use. Our prayers are with Jeannette and the family. May the Lord bring comfort through this time of loss, and peace to know Jack is with the Lord.
Jack is with Jesus – with no pain or suffering. My condolences to you Jeannette and your family. I have known your family for so many years and your Godly lives and ministry have been so far reaching. God Bless you as you carry on without your man of God.
