Obituary of Chanchalben Patel

Mrs. Chanchalben Patel, beloved wife of the late Mr. Motibhai Govindbhai Patel, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2006 at the age of 94 years. She was known lovingly as “Chanchalba”to her family and the Gujarati Community of Calgary. She was born and raised in Mehelav, Gujarat (India). After her marriage to Motibhai, the couple lived in Kenya (Africa) where they raised thirteen children. They then moved to Baroda (India) to further the children’s education and finally migrated to Canada in 1978 to be near their children and grandchildren. Chanchalba was known for her wonderfully playful sense of humour as well as her kind, open-hearted and generous nature. She touched the lives of many on three continents and leaves a legacy of cherished memories for all who knew her. Chanchalba will be sorely missed and remembered by her remaining sons and daughters, Chandrahas, Suresh, Surendra, Chandrika, Kusum, Indu, Satish, Rajni, Bharat, Usha, Vidya, and Praful, along with their spouses; as well as twenty-seven grandchildren and their spouses and twenty-eight great grandchildren. She endured the devastating effects of a major stroke but still continued to touch the lives of many and will best be remembered for her jovial spirit and warm heart. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
