Obituary of Marion Barbara Black

Marion Barbara Black (nee McIntosh) of Calgary passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Monday, November 6, 2006, at the age of 74 years. Marion was born in Consort, AB, on August 31, 1932, the youngest of six children. At the age of two, her family moved to Millet, AB, and then to Calgary, AB, in 1944. Marion took great pride in her extended family and always stressed the importance of family. With the passing of her siblings, Marion became the unwilling matriarch of the family, a title ill-suited to the young in heart. She remained until her death an active member of the Daughters of the Nile. Marion leaves behind her husband, Don Black; her three children, Marianne Mundy (John), Bob Ward (Lynn), and Colleen Irvin (Rodger); her six step-children, Kerry Black, Cameron Black (Susan), Kevin Black (Nina), Ken Black (Brenda), Kathleen Black (Rick Toogood), and Keith Black (Valerie); as well as her twelve cherished grandchildren, Joel, Cailin, Susie, Brittney, Taylor, Chandler, Nolan, Adrian, Meghan, Shannon, Robin, and Hannah. She has watched with great pride as they grow into adulthood. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who are scattered across Canada and in Hawaii and were dearly loved. Marion was predeceased by her grandson, Matthew. Funeral Services will be held at the Shrine Temple (5225 – 101st Street N.W.) on Friday, November 10, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
