Obituary of Rosa Arienzale

Rosa Arienzale of Calgary passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at the age of 85 years. Rosa was born on July 16, 1921 in Sepino, Italy. She married Antonio on December 28, 1948. Rosa immigrated to Calgary in 1956 with her three young sons to join her husband, Antonio. Together they were determined to make a better life for their family. Rosa’s favorite pastime was working in her vegetable garden, canning, and tending to her numerous flower beds. Carnations were her favorite flowers. She enjoyed heading out to the mountains and the Okanagan with Antonio in their ‘camperized’ van. They were married for forty-nine very happy years before Antonio passed away in 1998. Rosa’s happiest moments were spent in the company of her family whom she loved very much. Rosa will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, John and Barb, Pasquale and Debbie, Nino and Gail, and Jerry and Luisa; ten grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Vittoria Pietraroia of Montreal and Giovannina Dinardo of Calgary; a brother and three sisters-in-law, Donato and Elisabetta Pietraroia of Calgary, Maria Pietraroia of Australia and Guisapina Rucci of Belgium. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Friday, November 3, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
