Obituary of Jose Rodrigues

Jose “Albert” Rodrigues, beloved husband of Linda Rodrigues of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at the age of 90 years. Albert was born on December 7, 1915 in Georgetown, Guyana. After graduating from high school, he continued his education and held a long career in accounting. Albert married Linda on October 14, 1937 and together they had nine children. He was a long-time member of St. Vincent de Paul Society of Guyana, spanning forty-five years. He was also a member of the Guild of the Blessed Sacrament in Guyana. Albert spent many happy vacations in the Dominican Republic with his daughter Mary Ann and her husband José. When he was sixty-one, Albert and Linda decided it was time for a change and immigrated to Canada. Albert had a passion for crosswords and a special weakness for chocolates. Besides his loving wife Linda, Albert is survived by nine children and their spouses, Julian and Joy of Toronto, ON, Albert and Joan of Guyana, Mary Ann and José of the Dominican Republic, Bernard and Jacinta of Sherwood Park, AB, Anita and Ronald of Calgary, Marguerite and Aubrey of Sherwood Park, Stephen and Janet, Adele and Ben, Gerry and Cheryl, all of Calgary; twenty-four grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law Marie DeFreitas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church (10 Prestwick Dr. S.E.) on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church (10 Prestwick Dr. S.E.) on Friday, November 3, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev.
