Obituary of Wallis Swann Humfrey

Wallis Humfrey, beloved husband of Evelyn, father of Keith, grandfather of Kim, Kevin and Kelsey, ended his life journey peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at the age of 87 years. Wally was born on the De La Hay farm near Abbey, SK, the only son of Frank and Mary Humfrey. He moved to Calgary in the spring of 1939 and worked as a machinist at Precision Machine Shop. In 1950, he and his partner started a business and after 45 years in his trade, he retired to Kelowna, BC. Former Owner of Allied Machinists, pioneer skier, coach and aspiring wood carver, Wally touched the lives of many young people in business and his winter passion – leading the lines of Nancy Greene Ski Leaguers down the slopes of mountain resorts. Wally continued to thrive and created a large display of wood carved birds; a new passion that kept him travelling and meeting new friends, collecting many ribbons and honours along the way. A private family service will be held. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Wally Humfrey, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Eastside Memorial Chapel, 5388 MEMORIAL DRIVE N.E., CALGARY.
