Obituary of Leonard Legere

Leonard Charles Legere Sr., beloved husband of Doreen, of Calgary, passed away on October 24, 2006 at the age of 78 years. Leonard was born in 1928 in Port Elgin, NB and came West in 1949. He was proud to have volunteered service to the Air Force Detection Corps during the Second World War. Later in life he co-founded Radio Zone Control, a citizen band radio volunteer search and rescue organization in Calgary. Leonard was a dedicated and professional security officer for Greyhound Bus Lines and Stewart Green Properties for most of his career. Throughout his life and during his retirement Leonard enjoyed talking world wide on his CB radio. The numerous friends that he made knew him by his handle of “Little Beaver”. He was also fond of doing mechanical repairs to his automobiles, working around the house and watching his favourite movies “Dumb & Dumber” and “Back to the Future”. Leonard is survived and missed by his loving wife of 57 years Doreen (Dodie), his children Roy (Sheila), Loretta, Douglas, Donald (Sue) and Carol (Sheldon). He will also be remembered by two brothers, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two nieces and his faithful dog Benji. Leonard was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, four brothers, son Lennie, grandson Christian and granddaughter Hannah. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY”S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, October 30, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery for immediate family only.
