Obituary of Kumie Talbot

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kumie (Norma) Talbot (nee Nakahama) at the age of 65 years on October 13, 2006, at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. She is survived by her loving husband, Fred; sons, Russ, Brian (Kim); daughter Lisa; and grandson Colton. She is also survived by her brothers, Don (Cecelia), Harry (Cy), Steve; and sister Pauline (Heinz). She will be sorely missed by many other family and friends. Norma was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, and moved to southern Alberta after the Second World War. After completing high school she moved to Calgary where she met her husband, Fred. Norma was always the core in keeping family and friends in a close circle. Norma was a talented and successful seamstress and an avid gardener. She sewed for her many friends and others throughout the Calgary area. Her garden and flower beds were nurtured with love and she had a story for every plant. She was also a devoted golfer. She and Fred were members of the Highwood Golf and Country Club for over twenty-nine years. The Highwood has been their home away from home, and the members have always been part of their extended family. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. “We love you, Mom.” “I love you, honey.” Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis and Holloway Funeral Homes, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, October 19, 2006. In lieu of flowers, please donate in the name of Kumie (Norma) Talbot to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Center, 1331 – 29 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta, T2N 4N2.
