Obituary of John L. Schnurr

John Linus Schnurr of Calgary passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the age of 89 years. John was born in Markham, ON. He served in the Air Force during WWII. Married to Evelyn, they resided in Toronto, then in 1965, as a Citizenship Court Judge, John and his family moved to Calgary. Dad continued his work to retirement then began a new career as Notary Public and Justice of the Peace. Many couples have commented on the meaningful wedding ceremonies Dad performed for them. Prior to the onset of Parkinson’s Disease, Dad thoroughly enjoyed his vast acreage in South Calgary. John is survived by his family whom he treasured, his wife Evelyn; sons and daughters-in-law, Marc and Sue of Houston, TX, Grant and Darcy of Victoria, BC, Daniel of Calgary, and Michael and Michelle of Calgary; daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Doug Campbell, Yvonne and Chris Clark, all of Calgary; and ten grandchildren, Devon, Ryan, Greg, Mike, Matt, Rachel, Jason, Conner, Crystal, and Katie. John will be remembered as a loving, caring father and hard-working man. “Your work is done – now may the Lord’s peace rest with thee.” Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. Private Graveside Service to follow in the Good Shepherd Cemetery at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
