Obituary of Duncan MacMillan

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Duncan (Mikey) MacMillan at his home on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at the age of 79 years. Mikey is survived by his sister, Margaret Barter of Montreal, QC; and brother-in-law, Murdo McLeod. He will also be greatly missed by two nieces, Mary Lagace and her partner Peter, and Maggie Eakin and her partner Dale; great-nieces, Laura and Deanna Kiebke; dear friend, buddy and nephew Murdo Duncan; close church friends, Don and Arlen Young and Alf and Terry Zimmer; and his beloved dog, Misty. He was predeceased by a sister, Christina McLeod; and parents, Duncan and Mary Jane McMillan. Duncan was a native Calgarian, living his entire life in the family home. Engaged by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in 1946, he rose to the position of Mining Recorder, Calgary Office of the Ministry, managing all Alberta Crown Land, from the International Border north to Ponoka, AB, retiring in 1985. Duncan was an elder of the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. He became an Assistant Treasurer of the Sunday School at age 16, and later became Treasurer of the Sunday School in 1949, serving until 1994. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Drive S.W.) on Friday, October 13, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
