Obituary of Lena Joyce Crowchild

It is with deep sorrow that the families of Lena Joyce Crowchild (Singing Women) beloved wife of Councillor Gilbert Crowchild of Tsuu T’ina Nation announces her passing on Wednesday, October 04, 2006 at the age of 47 years. Lena was a strong, caring, friendly person, she would never turn anyone away. She loved life to the fullest. She also led an honourable life, establishing high standards and solid values to which all that knew her will aspire. She also had a wonderful sense of humour, she made everyone feel good, and she always had a joke or comment to make. She also was very dedicated to her boy’s hockey, as well as to her husband and all his daily accomplishments, as well to her grandchildren and family members. Lena leaves behind her son’s: Langdon, Kaylen, Jericho, and Logan; her daughters: Kristi and Tressa; her grandchildren, Tiana, Krishawn, Daleina; her adopted sons; Josh Crowchild, Justin Crowchild, Robert Crowchild Jr., Zach Manywounds, Jodi Onespot, Eldon Meguinis and Tyler Cutknife; her traditional adopted daughter Denise Williams; traditional adopted sister Vicky Joe and godson, Jody Labelle. Lena is survived by her mother; Dora Big Plume; her adopted mom, Marium Saskatchewan; her brothers: Ross (Theresa) Big Plume, Frank (Heather) Littlelight, Sonny Lusty; adopted brother Andy Saskatchewan; her sisters: Gloria Littlelight, Judy Big Plume, Josephine (Mike)Cutknife, Betty (Jimmy) Roasting, Beverly (LeeRoy) Meguinis, and Kim Lusty, Marie (Marvin) Dodginghorse, Karen Dodginghorse and sister-in-law Frances Littlelight. Lena is also survived by her grandmother Violet Crowchild; mother and father-in-law, Harley and Mildred Crowchild, brothers-in-law, Darrell (Rhonda) Crowchild, Joey (Phyllis) Whitebear; sisters-in-law, Jackie Crowchild, Corrina (Wilfred) Big Crow, Mona (Jordan) Crowchild, Shilo (James) Gordon, Sandra Crowchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her aunties and uncles, numerous cousins and the Big Plume family, Onespot family, Crowchild family, Crane family, Labelle family, Littlelight family, Jacobs family; Starlight family, Mistakenchief family, Simons family and all the Tsuu T’ina families. The family apologizes if we have missed anybody. Lena was predeceased by her father Joe Big Plume, brothers Bradford and Fred Littlelight, and her nephew Jordie Buffalo. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Gilbert Crowchild, (Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB) on Friday, October 6, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Tsuu T’ina High School on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Tsuu T’ina Cemetery (Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB).
