Obituary of Robert Stanley Oscar Johnson

Robert Stanley (Stan) Oscar Johnson, beloved husband of Helga Johnson of Calgary, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2006 at the age of 75 years. Stan was born on September 12, 1931 in New Westminster, BC and was raised in the Delta area. He graduated from UBC with a degree in Math and Physics. He later worked as a Geophysicist with Imperial Oil for over thirty years. Stan was a First Lieutenant in 19th Alberta Dragoons military reserves. He was a town councillor and a member of the police commission in Okotoks. Later in life he resided in England where he worked and travelled extensively in Europe and North Africa. Stan and Helga returned to Canada in 1993, and Stan became actively involved with the Military Museum of the Regiments. Besides his loving wife, Stan is survived by a son Nels Johnson of Calgary; two daughters and sons-in-law, Astrid and Richard Lower of Melbourne, Australia, Ingrid Johnson and Albert Lavergne of Edmonton; and four grandchildren, Marcus and Michael Lower, Dominic and Zackary Lavergne. He is also survived by his sister Diane Willms; and brother David Johnson, both of BC. He was predeceased by his parents Nora and Oscar Johnson. Funeral Services will be held at Lutheran Church Of The Cross (10620 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, October 6, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor William Wiegart, Presider.
