Mary Lynn passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and with her faithful Corgi Trissy by her side. She is survived by her loving husband Lloyd; children, Pamela and Dale Jenks, Laurie Driscoll and Cameron Driscoll; her brother Jim Milligan; nephews, Blair and Jim Milligan; and sister-in-law Sara Friesen. Mary Lynn was born in Edmonton and after spending some of her teenage years in P.E.I. she returned to Alberta where she attended U of A and met her future husband Lloyd. She graduated with a B.Sc in Medical Sciences and chose to devote her time to raising her three children and pursuing her passion for the welfare of animals. Mary Lynn served as President of the Calgary Humane Society from 1976-1986, served on the board of the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies from 1983 to present and has served as a Community Representative on the University of Calgary Animal Welfare Committee continuously since the early 1980’s. In recognition of her contributions to these agencies, in 2003 she was awarded the Order of the University of Calgary, as well as a Citation of Appreciation from the Canadian Council on Animal Care and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal. She has made major contributions to the dog showing community of Calgary, organizing and producing many events for the Alberta Kennel Club and she co-founded the Beta Puppy Obedience School which has been running for eighteen years. In addition to her work with animals, Mary Lynn has volunteered tirelessly with Calgary Meals on Wheels and other groups assisting the sick and elderly.
