Obituary of Joan Marguerite GIRLING

August 13, 1925 – Calgary, Alberta May 9, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta Joan Girling, beloved wife of Edward Leslie Girling of Calgary, AB, passed away on May 9, 2019 at the age of 93 years Joan was born in Calgary, Alberta Canada on August 13, 1925. She married her first husband, Darrel Higgins of Calgary, in June of 1944. Tragically Darrel was killed while training for the air service on August 2, 1944. Joan remarried on May 25th, 1946 to Edward Leslie Girling. Joan accomplished much through her life and never let adversity get in her way or diminish her positive attitude. She was very talented and expressed herself in her cooking, cake decorating, sewing and writing. Most of all she loved people, making instant connections everywhere she went. She was always interested in their life stories and who they were as individuals. Joan’s greatest passion was her family whom she doted over endlessly. She took great enjoyment in hearing about their various exploits and progress through life. She will be remembered and hugely missed for her humour and compassion Joan is survived by her second husband, Edward Girling; her three children, Darrell Higgins, Bryen Girling and Marilyn Girling. Joan was predeceased by her first husband Darrell Thomas Higgins and by her sister Gay Healey A private family service will be held. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
