Obituary of Melvin Chang
Melvin Miao Rong Chang passed away suddenly while on holidays in China on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at the age of 70 years.
Melvin was born in Shanghai, China in 1935 and immigrated to Canada in 1966 with his wife Rebecca and young daughter Ineke (Nicki). After spending fourteen years in Montreal, the family eventually settled in Calgary in 1980. Melvin was a well respected mechanical engineer and eventually started his own HVAC consulting company, MMC Engineering. He was also an active member of the local Chinese community.
Besides his wife Rebecca, Melvin is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Ineke (Nicki) and Ken Powless and two grandchildren, Alexis and Calvin.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, October 1, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
