Obituary of David Santilla

David Santilla, beloved husband of Pacencia of Calgary, passed away on September 28, 2006 at the age of 68 years. David was born in Ariston-Bantog, Asingan, Pangasinan, Philippines on March 16, 1938. From 1964 to 1986, he was a Barangay Captain, Ariston-Bantog, Asingan, Pangasinan. He spent 1986 & 1987 as an overseas worker in Saudi Arabia, and returned to the Philippines in 1988, where he was re-elected Barangay Captain. He held this position in the community until 1999. That year, he and his wife immigrated to Calgary. Also in 1999, David returned to the Philippines to receive a Presidential Award in the Malacanan Palace as One of ten Outstanding Barangay Captains. In Calgary, David joined the Filipino Political Association. Eventually, he joined the service team of leaders that made him an elected officer of the Filipino Calgarian Seniors Club. David was a man of faith and God. He was a loving husband to Pacing, a caring father to his children and an excellent advisor to Filipinos-in-Need in the community. He will be missed by all. Besides his loving wife Pacencia, David is survived by his children Nellie Sajor and Mandy Santilla, both of France; Allan (Belinda) Santilla and Sylvia Ancayan of Calgary; Rhodora Santilla Alberto of Malaysia; David Santilla Jr., Aris Santilla, and Vivien Santilla, all of Asingan, Philippines. He will also be remembered by his grandchildren, Abigail and Aveline of Calgary, and Ervin, Heidie, Marie, Ryan, Ryan, Aaron, Christian, Mac, Dave, Erica, Astro, Sabrina, Kelvin and Carlos, all of Asingan, Philippines; siblings Dr. Gil Santilla of California, USA, Feliciana Santilla of Malaysia, and Lydia Santilla of the Philippines; relatives Elvie, Bert and Gloria Valeroso and family, Julie and Jing Corpuz of Calgary; fellow leaders and many friends. David was predeceased by his brother Quirino Santilla and his parents Cesario and Juliana Santilla.
