Obituary of John Schierman

John (Johannes) Schierman went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at the age of 93 years. He was the beloved husband of Helene (nee Hergert) for over forty-nine years. John was a Master Craftsman Bookbinder, employed in the trade for over sixty-five years. His final years of employment were spent at the Calgary Public Library managing the printing and bindery department. A native Calgarian, John was a member of the Craftsman Club, the Germans from Russia Society and a proud member of Grace Lutheran Church. John’s strong faith in the Lord, love of life and positive attitude were a constant inspiration to everyone who came in contact with him. John is lovingly remembered by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Colin Andrews; grandsons, Bryan and Christopher; granddaughter-in-law, Valarie, Angela Nikal and Barret Jack. His special pride and joy was his first great-grandchild, Braxton (known as his “Little Duffer”). John is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and special friends. He was predeceased by his wife Helene, his parents, his brother Alex and his sisters, Pauline, Emma and Esther. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North, Telephone: 403 276-2296) on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
