Obituary of Audrey May HOLLOWAY

October 17, 1936 – Acton, England April 5, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta Audrey Holloway, beloved wife of Cliff Holloway, mother of Wayne, Paul and Lynda of Calgary, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 at the age of 82 years. Audrey was born and raised in Acton, London, England where she met Cliff in 1948, both at the age of twelve, and started an inseparable relationship throughout the next 70 years of Audrey’s life. They were married October 27, 1957 in Acton at the age of twenty one and immigrated to Canada just one week later. Cliff’s career moved the family several times in Ontario, BC, and finally settling in Calgary in 1982. Audrey did not share Cliff’s pioneer spirit but supported him in her typical unselfish way. Soon after arriving in Calgary she was employed in the Field Engineering Department of National Cash Register (NCR) where she earned the respect of all the staff for her dedication to her work until she retired in 1994. She loved having her married children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren living close by. Audrey also loved to cruise. Her favorite one was on a seven day Caribbean Disney cruise with her extended family of then thirteen. In her earlier life Audrey loved to go ballroom dancing. Her favorite sport was soccer which she shared with Cliff since they were 12 years old. They joined the Shawnessy YMCA when it opened in 2002. Audrey immediately became a friend to many of the ladies in the afternoon aquasize classes. Audrey had an unreserved love for all of her family and friends. Despite having several critical illnesses later in life, she retained her compassion for all those she considered less fortunate than herself. Audrey’s passing leaves a void in all those who were fortunate enough to be part of her life. Besides her loving husband Cliff, Audrey is survived by her son, Wayne; her son, Paul and his wife Michele, her daughter Lynda Kisil; her grandchildren Peter, Jordan, Jessica, Matthew, Kassidy, and Kristen; her great-grandchildren Emma an Sophia. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Deerfoot South, ) on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
