Obituary of Lena Verna Molly Gruben
Lena Verna Molly Gruben passed away peacefully after a four-year battle with cancer on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at the age of 50 years.
Lena was born in Banks Island and raised in Tuktoyaktuk, NWT. As a young woman she moved south with Ron Wade to raise a family. During her career, she influenced many lives and left a great example for others to emulate. Lena was a loving mother, partner, daughter, sister, aunt, and life-long friend. She was a beautiful , beloved woman. We will miss you, Lena.
Besides her partner Joe Jacobs, Lena is survived by two sons Brian Wade and Greg Wade; one daughter and son-in-law Denise and Kevin Atter; and her mother Persis Gruben. She is also survived by Agnes White (Larry), John Gruben Sr., Mabel Noksana (John), Sammy Gruben Sr. (Annie), Sarah McKay (Harry), Eileen Gruben, Freddy Gruben, Buddy Gruben, Chucky Gruben (Veryl) and as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lena was predeceased by her father Charlie Gruben Sr., and her brother Frank Gruben.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at Kitti Hall (Tuktoyaktuk, NWT) on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ghatge, and associates and especially the nurses of Unit 42B at the Foothills Medical Centre. Also gratitude to Nurse Glenda and staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.
