Obituary of Bernard Dvorkin

It is with sadness and great sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of our dear father, grandfather and brother, Barney Dvorkin of Calgary, at his home on Monday, September 4, 2006 at the age of 65 years. Barney was a happy spirited person who was a dedicated family man and loyal friend. He was known for his sense of humor and happy disposition – in spite of his recent health issues. He showed such bravery and had a courageous zest for life. Barney was very much supported by his family and friends and added a tremendous amount to them all. Barney will be sadly missed by two daughters and a son-in-law, Leann and Joel Finkelstein of Vancouver, B.C., and Rochelle Dvorkin of Calgary; a son, Harley Dvorkin of Vancouver, B.C.; and their mother, Carroyl Taylor. He was a proud grandfather of Hanna, Jake and Solly; and is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Ruth Dvorkin. Barney was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Harry. Funeral Services will be held at the Beth Tzedec Synogogue, (1325 Glenmore Trail S.W.) on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at the Jewish Cemetery (30th Avenue & Erlton Street S.W.). The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Carolynne and Lorraine, Barney’s cherished friends. Their positive energy and attitude added fullness to the last years of his life.
