Obituary of Evelyn Patricia Guthrie

Evelyn Patricia Guthrie (nee Westvick) passed away peacefully at the Beverley Centre Glenmore, on Friday September 1, 2006 at the age of 81 years. Evelyn was born in New Norway, AB where she lived until her marriage in 1945. She then moved to Memphis, TN, where Dennis was taking flight training with the USN. Later they moved to Idaho and then on to Calgary. The family lived in Wetaskiwin from 1953 to 1965 and in Edmonton from 1965 to 2005 when Evelyn moved into an assisted living residence. She will be remembered for her creativity, generosity, friendship, colour coordinated style sense and her love of needlework, cooking, gardening and Persian cats. Evelyn is survived by her daughter Sue Cotter of Kemptville, ON; her daughter Rita Guthrie and son-in-law John Fletcher and their children Katherine, Keith and Jessica, of Calgary; and her son Richard Guthrie and daughter-in-law Mona and their children Asif, Ian and Amber of Edmonton. She is also survived by her sister Kathleen (Kackie) Olstead of Orillia, ON; sisters-in-law Marion Hicks of Three Hills, AB and Margie Phillips of Arlington, WA; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Dennis in 1986; her parents Anna and Sivert Westvick of Camrose, AB; and her sister Irene Thorsell of Edmonton, AB, Marjorie (Bobbie) Fielding and Eleanor (Billie) Duggan, both of Camrose, AB.
