Obituary of Janice Ashley Delaine

Janice Ashley Delaine (nee Perepeluk) of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at the age of 74 years. Janice was born on March 21, 1932 in Rorketon, MB. She grew up in small town Manitoba and attended High School in Winnipeg. Janice attended Victoria Hospital School of Nursing in London, ON and graduated in 1955. Upon graduation, she began her nursing career in Florida. She later returned to Manitoba, then moved to Calgary in 1958 where she worked in the emergency department at the Calgary General Hospital. Janice was married in 1961. She travelled, involved herself in politics and volunteer work before starting her family in 1970. Janice raised her family in Calgary and returned to her nursing career in 1983. She worked at the Colonel Belcher Hospital, then the Rockyview Hospital until she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in April 2004. Janice faced her illness head on. She never allowed it to sway her determination to live life to its fullest, as she always had. She dedicated her life to encouraging (demanding), her children, family and friends to grab hold of their dreams, to know what they wanted, go after it and accept nothing less. She kept everyone on their toes, kept them laughing and kept them in line. Janice was always a mother first; to her children, her friends, her family and her girls. Janice is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg Delaine and wife Tracey and Paul Delaine and Dawn Stewart of Calgary; one daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne Delaine and Mark Timmons of Calgary; and four grandchildren, Stephen, Morgan, Nolan and Jeffrey. She is also survived by two brothers, Orest (Mickey) and Audrey Perepeluk, and Walter Perepeluk; and one sister Gloria Kalid, all of Winnipeg, MB. Janice was predeceased by her parents, William and Effie Perepeluk; and by her brother John Perepeluk. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Union Cemetery.
