Obituary of Thomas Heron

Thomas “Tam” Patrick Heron, beloved husband of May Heron, of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 following a courageous battle with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) at the age of 61 years. Thomas was born February 14, 1945 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He married May Robertson on October 3, 1964 in Edinburgh and immigrated to Canada with their family in 1974. Thomas served with the Merchant Navy in Scotland and travelled many parts of the world. He enjoyed his many return visits to Scotland and had just returned from his last visit on August 23. He also enjoyed gardening and especially enjoyed being around his grandchildren. Besides his loving wife May, Tam is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law and one daughter and son-in-law, Gerrard and Patricia of Calgary, Sean and Sharon of Edinburgh, Scotland and Maria and Cyril Awasis of Thunderchild, SK; eight grandchildren, Nadine, James, Kathleen, Jasmin, Taralynn, Mariah, Michael, and Caleb. Tam is also survived by two sisters and one brother-in-law, Maria and Podge Bain, and Catherine Brown; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alex and Karen Heron and Michael and Fran Heron as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by an infant son Michael; his parents James and Ellen Heron; his brother Gerald Heron and his sister Helen Marshall. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
