Obituary of Wendell Witney

Wendell Raymond Witney of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2006 at the age of 64 years. Wendell was born in Yorkton, SK and moved to Calgary in 1961, where he attended Christine Meikle School. He worked at Advance and Manchester Industries, making many friends along the way. Wendell was a kind, polite person with a friendly smile for everyone he met. He bowled with the Special Olympics team at the North Hill for many years. Wendell is lovingly remembered by his cousin Judy Steele (Bob Fenton) and her daughter Jennifer Carlyle-Barna (Joe, Zach and Hannah). He is also survived by his two aunts and numerous cousins. Wendell was predeceased by his parents Raymond in 1985 and Margaret in 2000. A special thanks to Kristen and Jesse Reneau who cared for Wendell beyond expectations and treated him as a member of their family for the past five years. Thank you to Maureen Nowosad, who was Wendell?s DDRC rep for many years and who went out of her way to care about him. Thank you to the emergency department and ward 74 at the Rockyview Hospital where Wendell was treated with the utmost care, skill and dedication by Dr. Simmons and Dr. Davidson and nursing staff during his last forty-eight hours. Thank you to the staff at Extendicare Cedars Villa where Wendell resided since May 1, 2006. Funeral Services will be held at Hillhurst United Church (1227 Kensington Close N.W.) on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
