Obituary of Frank Gaskarth
Frank Gaskarth of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2006 at the age of 93 years.
Frank was born in Red Deer, AB and came to Calgary as a young boy. At the age of fifteen, he began his career with the CPR which spanned almost fifty years. He married Beth Burgess and together they would enjoy sixty-nine years of marriage. Frank and Beth travelled extensively and enjoyed the camper truck and square dancing. In addition to being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Frank was an avid fisherman, fishing in Alberta and B.C. Never wanting to truly retire, Frank also kept busy by helping out at the farm.
Frank is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Bill and Esther of Calgary; three grandchildren, Janice (Lester) Perrott of Slave Lake, AB, Will of Gwang-ju, South Korea, and Jason (Toby Leigh) of Calgary. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Kyle and Laurel Perrott, and Shannon and Madeleine Gaskarth; a brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Lily of St. Albert; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend, George Hemeyer. Frank was predeceased by his wife, Beth, in 2005; brother, William Walker; and sister Doris McDougall.
A Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
