Obituary of Douglas Blacklaws

Douglas Blacklaws beloved husband of Mrs. Betty Blacklaws of Calgary, passed away on Saturday August 19, 2006 at the age of 80 years. Douglas was born on November 24, 1925 in Calgary Alberta. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II, and on October 7, 1946 he married Betty. He began his career as a locomotive engineer in 1946, then retiring in the early 1980s. He enjoyed outdoor life, especially hiking and fishing. Douglas also liked to curl and was a member of Legion 264 for many years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who always placed his family first. Besides Betty, his loving wife 60 years, he is also survived by, a son Rick and his wife Carol, and their children Brydon, Jake, and Caitlin of White Rock, B.C.; his daughter-in-law Vicky (Ted) and their children Ligaya and Rina. He is also survived by his sister Ellen Clark of Edmonton; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barb Morrison, and John Morrison of Calgary; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, Ted, and Larry; and his parents Helen and Douglas. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff in ICU, at the Foothills Medical Centre.
