Obituary of Jano Batonyi

Janos Batonyiof Calgary, passed away on Tuesday August 8, 2006 at the age of 63 years. Janos was born on October 19, 1942, in Budapest, Hungary. He served in the Hungarian Army for three years, where he trained as an amateur boxer. In 1968, at the age of 25, his brother Louis sponsored him to come to Canada and settle in Calgary. He attended SAIT where he earned his trade certificates as a plumber, pipe fitter, gas fitter, and fourth class power engineer A and B. He had a great love of the outdoors, and in his later years he enjoyed hiking, dancing, and gardening. Janos was competent, and excelled in work and in life. He gave 110 percent in everything that he did. Janos Batonyi is survived by his daughter’s; Janelle, Elnora (Ellie) and her husband Roland Cadrin; step daughter Tanya and her husband Tony DeLeon and their children Carmen and Talia. He was predeceased by his parents Etelka and Laszlo Batonyi, sister Etelka, and brothers Laszlo, and Louis. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 – 14th Street S.W.) on today August 10, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Edmund Vargas.
