Obituary of Peter Sharkey

Peter (Pete) Michael Sharkey of Calgary passed away peacefully on Monday, August 7, 2006 at the age of 93 years. Pete was a native Calgarian and a World War II veteran, who retired after many years with CP Rail. He was a talented saxophone and clarinet player and was a member of the King’s Own Calgary Regiment Band, the Calgary Concert Band and a number of local dance bands. Pete is survived by his children and their spouses Patrick and Anne of Cloverdale, BC, Maureen Delorme of Calgary, Dan and Pat of Red Deer, and Theresa and Dave O’Lesky of Calgary; his grandchildren Mike Delorme (Paula) of Edmonton, and Jodi Delorme of Calgary; step-grandchildren Paul and Wayne (Trish) Goldsby, Tracey (Regan) Lynn, and Chris (Tonya) James; and their children, Clinton and Desirae Goldsby, Jaxon and Hanna Lynn and Ashley and Nolan James. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Lou and Jean of Penticton, BC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pete was predeceased by his wife Mary; a brother and four sisters. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (640 – 19th Avenue N.W.) today, August 10, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Alfred Pereira, Presider.
