Obituary of Therese Marie Louise Whitney-Onespot

Therese Marie Louise Whitney Onespot of Tsuu T’ina Nation, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday August 09, 2006, after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis, at the age of 55 years. She is survived by her former husband of twenty-seven years Roy Whitney, eldest daughter Jody (Christopher Poitras), daughter Paula, daughter Tara (Mason Dodginghorse), and loving grandchildren Taylor Madison Hope and Justice Destiny. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Monica Whitney, mother Albina Privee, brother Frank, sister Pauline Applehoff (Jake), friend and sister Judy Sutherland, and numerous nieces and nephews that were dear to her heart. She was predeceased by her son Jason Roy, father Louis, brother John, Chief Dick and Granny Lucy Big Plume, Roy Whitney Sr, May Whitney, Marilyn Whitney, Bob Gottfriedson, Loyal Whitney, Pat Whitney, Gail Parsons, and loyal companion Whitty. The family would like to extend special thanks to caregivers Rena Nicholson, Cheryl Murrin, Cris Eclar, and Renata Sliwa. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend, Therese dedicated her life to helping those in need and gave endlessly to charitable causes. Therese also maintained a strong compassion for those with ailments similar to hers and developed friendships with many throughout her life. Her guidance and strength will be forever missed by her daughters, granddaughters, loved ones, and friends. May she have a peaceful journey. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Therese Whitney (Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB) on Friday August 11, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church on the Tsuu T’ina Nation at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Tsuu T’ina Nation Cemetery.
