Obituary of Herbert Clarence Luft
Herbert Clarence Luft of Calgary, passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of the Peter Lougheed Hospital with his family at his side on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at the age of 81 years.
Herbert was born in 1924 in Calgary. He was a veteran of WWII, and served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1942 to 1945. Herbert was employed with C.P.R. from 1946 until 1961, and then was employed until retirement with Teledyne.
Beloved Father, Grandpa, Papa, Great Grandpa, Brother and Uncle, Herbert leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Sheila (Ben) Vase of Calgary, and Bev (Tracy) Wiley of Norman Wells, N.W.T.; one son, Donald (Rosemary) Luft of Calgary, also Pat and Carmen Sobieski, his grandchildren, Angie (Ian) O’Sullivan, Julia Sobieski, David Sobieski, Adam Vase, Cathy Sobieski, Evan Luft, and Kayle Luft; and his great grandchildren, Ty, Travis, Emma and Evan. He will also be remembered by his one brother Jim (Ethel) Luft of Calgary; and three sisters, Gladys (Bob) Morse of New Jersey, Sammie (Jack) Borton of Sundre and Audrey (Tom) Faulkner of Calgary. Herbert was predeceased by his mother and father, Elizabeth and Adam Luft; soul-mate Rita Sobieski; and sister Cleo Clarke.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
