Obituary of Alvin J. Ritchie

Alvin J. (Al) Ritchie, beloved husband of Rita Ritchie of Calgary, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2006 at the age of 76 years. Al was born on July 12, 1930 in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan and was raised in Saskatoon. Al was involved with the Credit Union Movement in Saskatoon and Melfort, SK as well as Calgary, serving as C.E.O. for thirty-three years, retiring in 1985. Al also served for sixteen years on the Assessment Review Board in Calgary as well serving the Co-op Insurance Board for twenty years. Al was a long standing member of First Alliance Church and was active within the church and church groups. He was an avid golfer and member of the Earl Grey Golf Club. Besides his loving wife Rita, Al is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Sandra of Calgary, his daughter and son-in-law Susan and Dave, all of Calgary; as well as his daughter Louise and son-in-law Mike of Canmore. Al is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by his son Randall in 2001. Funeral Services will be held at First Alliance Church (12345 – 40th Street S.E.) on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Elliott, Presider.
