Obituary of Leona Bibby

Leona Bibby, beloved wife of the late John Bibby, passed away at the Beverly Centre in Calgary on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at the age of 87 years. Leona was born January 29, 1919 in Ashmont, Alberta. She met and married John in 1937 and remained happily married for 60 years until John’s death in 1997. Leona had a very successful career as a teacher in Edmonton for 24 years. She led a very happy and fulfilling retirement and showed a keen interest in helping family, friends and all others who had the good fortune of knowing her. Leona is survived by her brother, Corwin (Cordie) of British Columbia; her son and daughter-in-law, Malcolm and Marion Bibby; her daughter and son-in-law, Lee and Doug Dartnell; as well as three grandchildren, Julie, Jana and Katie, all now of Calgary, Alberta. Leona was predeceased by her son Bruce in 1967 and her siblings, Sadie, Mildred, Lewis and Mabel. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S “Fish Creek Chapel”, (14441 Bannister Road S.E.), on Thursday, August 10, 2006 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Midlands United Church (250 – 146th Avenue S.E.), on Friday, August 11, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev.
