Obituary of Donald Francis Porter
Donald Francis (Don) Porter, beloved husband of Iris Porter of Calgary, passed away at the Intercare Chinook Hospice on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 after a lengthy illness courageously endured at the age of 89 years.
Don was born on July 19, 1917 in East Ham, London, England. During World War II, Don served with the Royal Engineers in England, and in the Middle East where he met Iris, who was serving with the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force. They wed on July 20 of 1946 and immigrated to Canada in 1948, making their home in Calgary. Don was a popular instructor and programme supervisor for the Alberta Government Apprenticeship Board, in the sheet metal trade.

Besides his wife, Iris, Don was loved and will be missed by four dear children and their partners, Anne and Eldon Kendrew, Roy and Carole, Kerry and Brenda, and Diana; and three treasured granddaughters, Erin, Jennifer, and Allison Porter.
