Obituary of Alfonso Umbalin
Alfonso Umbalin, beloved husband of Perla Umbalin of Calgary, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2006 at the age of 82 years.
Alfonso was born in Ballesteros, Cagayan, Philippines on January 26, 1924. He and Perla were married on September 27, 1952 in the Philippines, where he was a Regional Postal Inspector. Alfonso served in WWII, was a member of Vanguard 777 and TRAFCON, and also received an undergraduate in Dentistry. On April 27, 1980, he immigrated to Canada, first to Winnipeg MB, and then to Calgary.
Besides his loving wife Perla, Alfonso is survived by his sons Valentino ( Maria Nenita) Umbalin and Rey (Catherine) Umbalin, both of Calgary; daughters Maria Elena Umbalin and Grace (Amando) Simbulan, all of Winnipeg, and Josefina (Joselito) Estrellado of Las Vegas; eleven grandchildren Chester, Eleazar, Claire, Marlon, Gabriel, Teresa, Adrian, Aimee Joy, Allan, William and Kayla; and numerous nieces and nephews. Alfonso was predeceased by his brother Pablo Umbalin.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Thursday, July 27, 2006 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY?S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Friday, July 28, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (1525 – 45th Street S.E.) on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 10:30 a.m., the Rev.Vincent Thao Dinh OP, Presider.
