Obituary of John Allen Bryan
John Allen (Jack) Bryan, beloved husband of Shirley Bryan of Calgary, died on Monday, July 24, 2006 at the age of 76 years.
Jack was born in Calgary on May 25, 1930. He received his schooling in Calgary, Medicine Hat, and Bassano. He began his career with the Canadian Pacific Railway as a wiper. He retired from British Columbia Railway in 1994. Being a third generation of railroad engineers was a source of great pride and accomplishment for him. Jack was a dedicated volunteer counsellor for the British Columbia Railway Employee Assistance Program, as well as an active member of the Kensington Legion. As a young man, Jack excelled at baseball and hockey, and in later years loved a good game of golf. Jack was a friend of Bill Wilson’s for over thirty-years.
Besides his wife, Shirley, Jack is survived by two sons and a daughter, Tim, Les, and Lorrie Bryan and their families; step-sons and their spouses, Reid Crozier (Jody) and their sons, Randy and Dale, and Greg Crozier (Lori), and their son Travis; and his special pancake buddy, Cameron. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Eleanor Bryan, Gordon and Karin Bryan, and Don Bryan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Jim Werstuik, Diane and Bob Adam; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Jack was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret; a son, John; and parents, Jessie and Bill Bryan.
