Obituary of Catherine Toben Anderson

To the great sadness of all who knew her, Toben Anderson passed away Monday, July 10th, 2006, surrounded by family at her home in Calgary. She was predeceased by her brother, Bruce, in 1966. Toben’s ability to live each day fully, be it filled with challenges or with joy, was perhaps the most amazing of her many accomplishments, one that she strove to share with as many people as possible, to the very end. It is left to those who remain – Toben’s husband Raul Carsolio and his family here and in Mexico, Toben’s family, including parents Joyce and Allan Anderson, her brothers Ian and Dave and his wife Dianne and children Connor and Cailey, and extended family members, along with her many friends and the multitude she touched through her speaking – to ensure that her message is not lost. Special thanks to Calgary family members Joan and Norm Gish and Caroline and Rod Miller for their love and support. Our thanks to Deb and Tom Mauro, who played such a major role in helping Toben realize many of her goals and dreams in the last few months of her life. Our deepest appreciation to Dr. Glenn Gould for being all that one could ever hope for in a family physician. To the host of extraordinary friends who helped in so many ways, to the amazing staff at The Tom Baker Cancer Centre who have been so constant in their care and skill over the last twelve years, and to the wonderful staff of the Calgary Palliative Home Care service, we are forever grateful. Family and friends are invited to gather and join in a celebration of a life so well lived on Thursday, July 27, 2006 from 3 to 6 pm at the Glencoe Club, 636 – 29 Avenue SW, Calgary. A fund to support cancer projects, The Toben Anderson Memorial Fund, has been established at The Calgary Foundation, www.thecalgaryfoundation.org.
