Obituary of Harry Gordon Medland

Gordon Medland beloved husband of Barbara Medland of Calgary passed away tragically on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at the age of 60 years. Gordon attended Central High School. He loved all aspects of sports, teaching, coaching, playing and watching. Gordon graduated from the University of Calgary in 1970 with a Bachelor of Education Degree, majoring in Physical Education and taught in Australia for one year. He moved back to Canada and lived in Lacombe, while teaching in Bentley, AB for one year. In 1973, Gordon met and married Barbara Prothmann and they settled in Calgary. He loved life, he and Barbara spent many months throughout the summer touring in their motor home. Gordon was a thoughtful husband, a loving father and grandfather and a loyal brother. He loved to socialize, as people were the love of his life. Gordon retired from teaching in 2001 at age fifty-five but began substituting because he loved teaching so much. Besides his loving wife, Gordon is survived by two daughters, Nicole and Elise of Calgary; two granddaughters, Elenie and Adara. He also leaves his sister, Tham and brother-in-law Howard Greenwood of Calgary; his brother, Tom and sister-in-law Margaret of Stettler; numerous nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his father Harry in 1979 and his mother Peggy in 2006. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W) on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Donald E.
