Obituary of Cornelis Peters

Kees, beloved husband of Emma of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 7, 2006, from the cancer which he had courageously battled this past year like the true commando he once was. Kees was born on March 17, 1942 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, immigrating to Canada in 1966. He married Emma in 1967 and they made their home in Calgary and area for thirty-nine years. Kees was a successful businessman and co-owner of Scott Springfield Manufacturing until his retirement in 1995. He spent the last ten years realizing his dream of owning a small breeding farm and raising his beloved Friesian Horses. Kees was an active member of the Alberta Friesian Horse Association and the High Country Driving Club. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family. Kees is survived by his loving wife of thirty-nine years Emma Peters and in the Netherlands by his mother Marguerite; brother Harry (Yvonne); sisters, Marian (Pieter), Margo (Ton), Hetty (Pieter), Thea, Olga, Margriet (Hans), and Wil (Rob); as well as his brother-in-law Nick Wagenaar of South Africa; sisters-in-law, Dina van de Water of South Africa and Corry Grootveld of Okanagan Falls, BC; and many nieces and nephews in the Netherlands, South Africa, Calgary, Vancouver, and Italy. He was predeceased by his father Harry on July 8, 1998.
