Obituary of Edythe Marion Drinnan

Edythe Marion (Marnie) Drinnan, of Calgary, passed away on July 5, 2006, at the age of 91 years. Marnie was born on September 28, 1914, and has resided in Calgary since the age of six. Raised by a working mother, she soon learned to cook and sew. Her first job was in the cosmetics department of the Hudson’s Bay Company in the 1930’s, moving on to work in the library at the Calgary Herald during the war years. After the death of her husband George in 1954, Marnie went to work at Trans Canada Pipelines Limited, where she stayed until her retirement in 1979. In her free time she enjoyed photography, painting, dancing and writing. Marnie will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews; and great and great-great nieces and nephews, particularly Shirley McKnight of Stettler and Barbara Zinter of Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband; her mother and father; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; her two sisters; and two nephews. The tide recedes, but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand. The sun goes down, but gentle warmth still lingers on the land. The music stops, and yet it echoes on in sweet refrain. For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains. M.D. Hughes. At Marnie’s request no funeral service will be held. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
